Small Improvements
Developing anything worthwhile takes patience. As a business owner, you quickly become familiar with the challenges of getting started, understanding your costs, refining operations, and continually looking for ways to improve.
The concept of small, incremental improvement may seem obvious, yet it is often overlooked. It tends to sit on a development list rather than being treated as a priority, pushed aside by more immediate and urgent demands.
Over the past five years in manufacturing, I have been introduced to a range of improvement methods, including SSI, A3, 5 Whys, and RPS. However, a common question arises: when should each of these be used, and what purpose do they truly serve?
While these approaches can appear interchangeable, experience has shown me that each has its place. Understanding when and why to apply them is what ultimately drives meaningful and sustained improvement.
